One of the biggest mistakes we make is to compare ourselves to others. How could we not? We live in an era where everybody takes heart in showing off their lifestyles through social media. It can be inspiring in a way as it can be a wake-up call that will motivate you to go pursue your dreams or change your ways to have a better life.
However, it can also make you feel bad about yourself for not doing what others are doing. And here is the danger.
You start comparing yourself to others and to envy them. Worst, you might want to employ your life to do what they are doing. But let me tell you something.
We are not meant to be the same. We are not meant to have the same life. In fact, God will not direct all of us in the same path for we are unique in our own way. There is only one you and no one can do you better than you. And I believe that God will not help you to become somebody else. Your blessings are on the way and it will be hard for them to find you if you turn into something they can't recognize.
You will succeed. If you work hard, pray hard. Put God first. There is no reason why victory shouldn't be yours. However, you have to trust the timing of your life. God will not deliver your blessings until He feels like you are ready to receive them. As we can't rush God's pace, we have to trust Him with our lives. It's hard. It takes courage, hope and faith but all things will come together for you.
Don't compare yourself to others. You are your own person and Jesus loves you just the way you are. Trust in Him, trust in yourself and be happy when other people are receiving their blessings while waiting for yours to come down.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
