One of my 2020 resolutions is to keep developing my faith. We never get enough Jesus in our lives and one of the ways to keep up with him is to study the Word of God. The Scriptures are true and so accurate that it shakes your soul.
I am a millennial so of course, I am more about the digital : I have my Bible app, YouVersion. This is my go-to app as it allows you to compare the different versions of the Scriptures and in different languages.
Therefore, for my English versions, I have got the New International Version (NIV), the English Standard Version (ESV) and the King James Version (KJV). For the French versions, there are Louis Segond II (LSG), la Bible du Semeur (BDS) and Parole de Vie (PDV). Then for Spanish, I just have the Nueva Versión Internacional (NVI). I like to compare versions in order to have a better understanding of the verses as they aren't always translated the exact same way.
When I do my Bible studies, I like to underline verses in order to remember them or write a full meditation about them. I have learned some of them at heart just because they are good to my soul.
I have decided to share some of my favorite Scriptures with you, so that you can be encouraged, inspired and empowered too.
Here are (some) of my favorite verses :
1) Joshua 1:9
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
This verse basically kept me from dying on the inside when I was depressed. It pushed me to keep going when I was defeated. I pretty much know the whole chapter at heart as I used to recite it every morning to uplift myself.
2) Acts 18:10
"For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”
This verse makes me feel4 blessed and protected. It makes me feel untouchable.
3) Psalm 46:1
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
This verse gives me hope and makes me feel sheltered.
4) 1 Corinthians 13:13
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
This verse reminds me what really matters and that love is in the center of everything.
5) Isaiah 40:31
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Faith, hope, encouragement... this verse has it all.
6) Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
This is a good reminder that you don't have to suffer on your own. The Lord is there for you, to support and comfort you.
7) Proverbs 8:17
"I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me."
I am just thankful for God's love.
8) Lamentations 3:22-23
"Because of the Lord ’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
Such words are so encouraging for me when I feel down. They also remind me to be thankful for the new doors of opportunities God opens for us every day.
9) Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
When you feel lost and hopeless, read and repeat this verse out loud, it actually makes things better.
10) John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
This verse is so powerful. It makes me want to do a fist bump with the Holy Spirit.
